Learning from the Shore

Muddy Boots Beach is accessed from a private gateway in Chircombe House grounds. Here children's' imaginations flourish in a multi-sensory experience whilst listening to stories of adventure. The beach and estuary provide the perfect environment for inspiring awe and wonder. We can search for shells, find treasure and build the perfect sandcastle. As we take in the views and look along the river Torridge, we can see the bridge. Children count the cars and lorries as they cross, providing opportunities for counting and imagination as we wonder where they are going. 

The children discover the crabs hiding places under the stones, and learn how to gently pick them up. Our children are encouraged to develop a respectful relationship and value the world around them.
